Alexa Chung Biography
TV Personality / Model
Photos ( See all 29 )Model and fashion hipster Alexa Chung began hosting the MTV afternoon program It's On in June of 2009. Chung was already used to life in front of a camera: she began modeling for teen magazines and Urban Outfitter catalogues at age 16, and in 2006 landed a job hosting the Saturday morning music and interview TV show Popworld on Britain's Channel 4. That gig ended in 2007, but the next year Chung suddenly was everywhere, appearing on Channel 4 programs like Vanity Lair and Freshly Squeezed, the BBC sketch comedy program The Wall, and the lighthearted fashion show Gok's Fashion Fix. She was much admired for her personal fashion sense, featuring a steady rotation of casual frocks and jumpers, short dresses, bare legs and flat shoes. The Guardian called her "Britain's rising It-girl-in-chief" and praised her "deadpan wit and minxish good looks," while The Daily Telegraph called her "a leading representative of an influential brand of quirky 21st-century Englishness." In 2009 MTV tapped her to host It's On, which replaced Total Request Live as the network's flagship afternoon program.
Extra credit: Chung's father was Chinese, her mother British... She has dated Alex Turner, front man for the band Arctic Monkeys, and photographer David Titlow, formerly of the bands Blue Mercedes and Heave.
